The Children’s Institute takes the best interests of children into account and is aimed at ensuring that children are given primary consideration by society. Thus, the Institute promotes the participation of children in its work, and advocates for their voices to be heard in decisions affecting their lives. Children’s Institute engages in research using interdisciplinary and inter-related thematic areas such as: child poverty and inequality; early childhood development and violence against children to investigate complex social issues. The Institute provides information to those who are advocating on behalf of children and contribute to laws, policies and programs. It is also engaged in own evidence-based advocacy.

The publications section has peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals, books and book chapters, research reports and briefs, and policy briefs. The lists of publications include links to either the journal sites, pdfs or the OpenUCT Repository.
