UN agency / Posted 6 years ago by Nason Bimbe / 584 views

UNFPA is the lead United Nations agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every child birth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. It expands the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. UNFPA has a Regional Office in South Africa and a liaison office in Addis Ababa. It has country offices in East and Southern Africa, and country offices in West and Central Africa. Although UNFPA is making progress on the African continent in terms of reducing maternal mortality and empowering young people in sexual and reproductive health, there is still much to be done. Meaningful action is required in the areas of health, including: sexual and reproductive health and rights, family planning and HIV reduction; preventing maternal deaths; scaling up comprehensive interventions for adolescents and young people; education and employment for economic growth and development in the region. UNFPA works to improve these situations and improve lives in countries in East and Southern Africa and in West and Central Africa, by providing policy advice, training and support.

The publications have news releases and documents in the different thematic intervention programs of UNFPA.
