African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child – ACERWC (African Union)

The Committee is a group of individuals of high competence in matters of the rights and welfare of the child. The main task of the Committee is to collect information, interpret provisions of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, monitor the implementation of the Charter, report on the fulfillment of child rights and give recommendations to governments working with child rights organizations. The Committee considers individual complaints about violations of children’s rights, and investigates measures adopted by Member States to implement the Charter.

The case law database has African child rights case by country, court case type and subjects such as abduction, best interests of the child, custody, sexual abuse, etc. There are also other documents and publications in the resources section.
