CHS is a community-centered, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of and access to health, educational, and social services for those most in need, in the US and around the world. The Center works with communities and provides quality, innovative services. CHS offers a range of technical assistance to strengthen health and social systems and service quality by empowering communities and health workers to identify and apply locally appropriate solutions to critical problems. Locally, CHS services include: education; health education; health communication, training, health system strengthening, quality improvement, research and evaluation; HIV/AIDS; TB; malaria; maternal, newborn, and child health; mobile health. Internationally, the Center is working to meet health needs of CHS clients, their families, and the communities in which they live, by engaging community health workers and training local health personnel.

CHS and its affiliate University Research Co., LLC (URC) design targeted research to help answer key operational questions, such as how to improve the use of insecticide-treated bed nets to prevent malaria and how to set standards for programs for vulnerable children and families. URC produces a wealth of materials -publications, promotional materials, and tools- to support CHS projects and aid in the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
