The main objectives of the ILO in Africa are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues. Areas of support include: youth employment; labor migration; social protection and labor standards. Under social protection, the ILO is assisting all African countries for the introduction or extension of a basic social security package that includes essential health care, child support for school age children and a minimum pension.
