Jàmbá, a trans-disciplinary publication in the field of disaster risk reduction, is aimed at serving as a platform for discussion and debate in this relatively new study field. The journal engages, informs, and catalyzes scholarly discourse within research and real-world practices that work towards the minimization of vulnerabilities and disaster risks throughout developing communities with special emphasis on the African continent. Jamba crosses disciplinary boundaries to promote communication, collaboration and teamwork between professions and disciplines to avoid (prevention) or to limit (mitigation and preparedness) the adverse impacts of hazards, within the broad context of sustainable development. The journal is vital to the research community, policy-makers and legislative stakeholders on how to develop more effective policies, programs, and applied planning to reduce communities’ vulnerability to natural and anthropogenic hazards. Jamba is affiliated to the Southern Africa Society for Disaster Reduction, South Africa.
