The University aims to improve health and reduce inequality. The School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield houses one of the largest concentrations of leading health services and public health researchers in the UK. Public health major research themes include: alcohol research; food and nutrition; global health management and policy ; health and the environment; health equity and inclusion and knowledge into action. Aside from the major themes, the School does important work on public involvement in research, decision making and safety in emergency care transitions, medicines prescribing, and public health decision making. Sheffield also offers a wide range of public health teaching.
ScHARR runs open learning courses which anyone can register for. These courses take the form of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and are available via the Open University’s Futurelearn website.
